Material Testing Laboratory testing of raw materials to verify performance to customer or industry performance standards is performed by the material supplier certified by the customer. DPI Automotive does not replicate any of these tests, nor perform additional tests on the raw material. Final part testing (thermoformed, trimmed, and injection molded parts) is performed by the customer. Should any additional testing be required by the customer, the customer may be billed for the cost of the tests plus any additional required at the current rate for Quality Laboratory Services. Mold Trials The cost of up to 25 pieces per prototype mold trial is included in the quote to prove feasibility of one-up thermoforming tooling during the one-up prototype stage of mold trials. The cost of up to 25 total pieces per prelaunch mold trial is included in the quote to prove feasibility of full-up thermoforming tooling and/or trim die tooling during the prelaunch stage of mold trials. If the customer requires additional samples, these sample parts may be billable. If additional mold trials are required due to a customer engineering change, sample parts for additional mold trials will be billable. DPI does not include in any quote (unless specifically set forth) any costs associated with a dimensional check (lay-out) of any tooling. Color Trials The cost of up to 10 pieces per color submission is included in the quote. If the customer requires additional samples, these sample parts may be billable. Dimensional Measurements or Studies DPI Automotive, Inc. does not typically conduct dimensional measurements or studies since the trim die is considered to be an attribute gage, and has historically served to identify parts which are out of dimensional tolerance. If the tooling is proven unreliable as a gage, DPI will determine which alternative system will be used and to what extent. Should the customer require dimensional measurement beyond the use of the trim die, the customer may be assessed for additional costs as follows:
In case where the customer requires dimensional measurement, we agree to use a gage and/or manually measure one part (or set of parts) per shift. We will measure enough additional parts to prove capability during our first production run/capabilitystudy/GP12. The number of parts to be measured will be determined by DPI Automotive. Gage Studies If the customer determines that a gage is needed for dimensional, color, or other measurements, the customer will either supply the gage (including gage certification) or be assessed for its cost. Additionally, the customer will be required to provide acceptable proof of a measurement system analysis or, if we conduct the analysis, will be assessed at our current rate for Quality Laboratory service. We will not use a gage unless acceptable proof of gage certification and measurement systems analysis his been produced. Special Studies DPI Automotive will conduct and pay for any additional studies we deem necessary. These studies will typically involve no more than 30 sheets. If such study indicates that the cause of the problem stems from a customer change, we reserve the right to bill the customer for the cost of the study at our current rate for quality laboratory services. Capability Studies and PPAP Submissions Capability studies are conducted using up to but no more than 300 parts for an attribute study of visual characteristics, and no more than 50 parts for a variable or attribute study of visual attributes or dimensional characteristics. Capability studies are conducted for the purpose of proving thermoforming and trimming capability only. It is the responsibility of the material supplier to conduct capability studies to prove color capability. Capability studies will be conducted during the first run after thermoforming mold and trim die tooling is finalized. This is normally considered a production run, since hardening of tooling marks the end of the prelaunch phase. The customer may decide whether
The results of the capability study will be available no less than two weeks after the production run during which it is conducted. Parts manufactured during a Capability study are billable if they are not rejects. If they are rejects, there will be no charge. Rejected parts must be returned to DPI Automotive. Production Part Quality and Visual Defects We reserve the right to determine action taken on rejects comprising less than the industry standard on a per shipment basis. We do not guarantee an 8D, special study or analysis, and do not expect these rejects to be included in PPM calculations. We will refund the price of the appliques or replace the parts. Standards for defects warranting part rejection are found on form QT103F. Different standards for part rejection may be proposed by the customer and agreed upon in writing by DPI Automotive. However, we anticipate that the piece price will increase based on any change in material, machine, or labor requirements. Overall Billable Rates:
