DPI Multiple Decorated Surfaces Deliver a Better Value

For their newest vehicle, DaimlerChrysler wanted to have the same color appliqué in two different locations within the same part - the left-hand and center bezels within the instrument panel. We were able to achieve this - multiple decorated surfaces separated by a molded in-color or painted surface - while eliminating the need for additional injection mold tooling.

GM Envoy
A similar challenge was presented by GM for the shift console bezel on their new Envoy. In this case, however, GM wanted to achieve two different design patterns that abutted within the same injection molded part. We used our patented Multiple Appliqué Process™ to meet their challenge. Adding to the value of the processes described above, a single set of tooling for decorative film thermoforming and trimming can provide the capability to change patterns or colors at model year changeovers or new aspect availability.
